Tule Lake PILgrimage

Frequently Asked Questions – INFORMATION

I just started my registration application. I wanted to read the FAQs side-by-side as I went through the online registration system. I launched the FAQs on the tulelake.org website and want to return to the registration system. How do I do that?

You are doing the right thing! We encourage everyone to have the FAQs available to read as you are going through the different sub-pages of the online registration system. If you are on your laptop or iPad, have the FAQs open in a browser, minimize the window by clicking the “-” symbol in the upper right corner. You should see the Cognitoforms window with the registration form. Remember to “SAVE” your registration form after you start entering information, just in case you accidentally close the registration form.

Must every Pilgrimage attendee; e.g., pilgrim, speaker, etc. register?

Yes. We require every attendee to register – including children and infants.

I’m having difficulties figuring out how to complete the online registration. Is there someone who can help me?

If online registration is difficult for you to complete, please ask a family member or friend to assist you. This person will enter their contact information in the system, should the Pilgrimage registrar have any questions. If you are having trouble, please fill out a 2026 TLP Registration Help Request for assistance.

The registration system font size is very small. How do I enlarge it to complete the form?

  • Chrome:Click the three dots (or similar icon) in the top right corner, then go to “Zoom” and use the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons to adjust the zoom level.
  • Edge:Click the three dots, go to “Zoom,” and use the plus and minus buttons.
  • Firefox:Click the menu button (three horizontal lines), then use the plus and minus buttons.
  • Safari: Click “Option-Command-Plus sign (+)” to increase the font size.

I started the registration application but didn’t have time to pay the registration fees. Now the registration period is closed. Will a space be saved for me?

No. No spot will be “saved” for incomplete registrations. A complete registration is one with all mandatory data fields completed, signed waiver(s), and full payment of all fees.

The registration system is online now. Why isn’t there a paper registration form to complete?

The Tule Lake Committee recognizes that our new online system is a significant change for some people. Our Pilgrimage operational demands necessitate the use of online technology to streamline registration, charter bus transportation, and housing assignments. Most other Pilgrimages and events related to incarceration gatherings have online registration processes.

Can I join the Pilgrimage for only part of the schedule and pay a reduced rate? Can I “drop by” the Pilgrimage without registering?

No. The registration fee is the same, whether you arrive late or leave early. Those who are not registered and show up at Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) or one of the other sites will be asked to leave.

If I change my mind about attending the Pilgrimage and cancel, can I transfer my space to someone else who has not yet registered?

No.

Can I hold a space to attend the Pilgrimage without registering?

No. Due to the expected heavy interest for the 2026 Tule Lake Pilgrimage, we cannot “hold spaces.” You are considered registered for the Pilgrimage only after you have: (1) completely submitted your online registration, (2) paid your registration fees, including any additional Village Apartment or Single Dorm fees; and (3) received a confirmation email.

I completed a registration application for a relative/friend and she needs to sign the waiver. If she gives me permission to sign the waiver for her, can I sign it, so I can move to the payment portion of the registration application?

We prefer that you have the relative/friend sign the waiver themselves. To do this, you can send the relative/friend a link of the application by clicking “SAVE” and entering their email address. After they sign the application, you can move to the next page, the payment page, to complete the registration process.

I submitted my registration application to the Pilgrimage. I need to change some information on my application. How do I do that?

Once a registration is submitted, change requests are made through the 2026 TLP Registration Help Request form. The form will ask for basic information to locate your application in the registration system and make the requested change. All changes to submitted registrations will be handled by the Pilgrimage registration team.

How will you share general information on the status of Pilgrimage registration; e.g., whether or not registration is still open or closed, etc.?

We will post regular updates on our website www.tulelake.org, on the Tule Lake Pilgrimage Facebook page, and on Instagram @tulelakecommittee. Additional updates will be shared by bus monitors once they are assigned.

I am traveling alone. Can I attend?

Yes.

I am 85 years old. Can I attend alone?

No. If you are 85 years old or older, you MUST be accompanied by a companion. A companion is an able-bodied adult, between the ages of 18 and 84, who will be responsible for your safety and care for the duration of the Pilgrimage. On your online registration, you will enter your companion’s name. This person must also register and pay their registration fees with your identical departure location and housing choice (either the Double Dormitories or Village Apartments).

I have special medical needs. How do I indicate this? Do I need a special needs assistant?

If you have a special medical need, you MUST attend the Pilgrimage with a Special Needs Assistant, who is licensed or certified to provide your medical care during the Pilgrimage. On your online registration, you will enter your special needs assistant’s name. This person must register and pay registration fees with your identical departure location and housing choice (either the Double Dormitories or Village Apartments).

How strong is the cell service at Klamath Falls and Tule Lake?

Both Klamath Falls and Tule Lake are in remote areas, so cellular service can be spotty. While at OIT, you will be able to access the campus WiFi system; however, the bandwidth is limited. If you require a trusted WiFi connection, you should bring your own portable hotspot.

You asked for my gender identity. Why? How will you use this information?

Housing assignments are gendered for both the dormitories and the Village Apartments. This is very common on college applications.

Should I bring a water bottle?

Yes. Because of the potential heat and high elevation, all are encouraged to bring water bottles and stay hydrated over the four days of the Pilgrimage. The Tule Lake Committee will provide water at some locations. It is your responsibility to stay hydrated.

Can a family or group attend the Pilgrimage?

Yes. Please enter your family/group name, e,g., Fred Smith, Goichi Yamamoto, National Park Service, JACL, etc. when you register, and share your family/group name with others in your party. This will help us keep your group together for transportation and housing, as much as possible. We will not hold blocks of spaces for groups. All family or group members must register to attend the Pilgrimage.

I have never attended the Tule Lake Pilgrimage before. How will I find out about the schedule?

After registration is completed, you will receive an information packet, with program activities and other important information. In short, Day 1 is the welcome program; Day 2 is our visit to the Tule Lake Segregation Center; Day 3 we attend plenary sessions, workshops, and Healing Circles; and Day 4 is departure day.

I am completing applications for my family/group. After completing an application, how do I launch another blank registration application?

On the Payment page, scroll down to: “To begin a new registration, click here.”
