Tule Lake PILgrimage

Frequently Asked Questions – Housing

What amenities do the various housing options have? Are there elevators?

Both the dormitories and the Village Apartments (VA) have air conditioning. Only the dormitories have elevators.

OIT Dormitories: OIT has recently completed the construction of NEW dormitories, a four-story building with air conditioning and elevators. The new dormitories are located north of the old dorms (the old dorms are NOT available for our use for the 2026 Tule Lake Pilgrimage). Each dorm room has a standard set of furniture: two twin beds, desks and chairs, and chests of drawers. Each dorm is part of a “pod” – a group of dorm rooms that are located adjacent to a pod of restrooms and showers. Restrooms and showers can be used by anyone with an “access fob”. There are additional showers near the large lobby area on every floor. If you have mobility issues, please indicate your limitations and restrictions when you register, so that we can assign you a dorm room near the elevators. Use of these facilities is with “access fobs” that are programmed for: the exterior entrances to the dorm; your assigned dorm room; and the shared restrooms and showers along every hallway. A sample dorm floor plan can be viewed in the housing portion of the registration system when you select either “Double Dorm” or “Single Dorm”. On every floor of the dormitories, there are sitting areas in the central lobby area near the elevators.

Village Apartments (VA): The units are modular-apartment style suites in three three-story buildings, with multiple single bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a sitting area/living room, and an unfurnished kitchen with a refrigerator. A sample floor plan can be viewed in the housing portion of the registration system when you select “Village Apartments”. There are NO elevators in the apartment buildings. The air conditioning system is centrally controlled throughout the building; you will be limited to turning the air conditioning system “ON” or “OFF” in your suite; you cannot adjust the thermostat. Use of the apartments is with “access fobs” that are programmed to open the apartment building to which they are assigned, to their unit, and to the main entrance of the dormitories. Limited first floor apartment housing may be available for pilgrims with special medical needs. We expect that the volume of requests will exceed the availability. If you request a first-floor unit and none are available, you may be reassigned to the dormitories.

At OIT, how many pilgrims can be housed in a dormitory room or a Village Apartment?

OIT Dormitories: Dormitories can house two pilgrims to a room. If you have a preferred roommate, include their name when you register.

Village Apartments: The Village Apartments have units with three, four, or five bedrooms.  Each bedroom holds ONLY one person. All attendees (except infants) will have an assigned bedroom, including children who are minors.

If I stay in the dormitories, is there an extra cost for a single dormitory room?

Yes. A single dormitory room costs an additional $50 per person, in addition to the Pilgrimage registration fee. The registration fee of $700 per person includes double occupancy housing at the dormitories. If you want a single dormitory room, indicate this when you register.

What is the cost for Village Apartments housing?

An additional $100 per person; this is in addition to the Pilgrimage registration fee of $700.

I am completing applications for my family/group. I am signing up for the Village Apartments and note that in the “roommate” section, two names are already filled in. Why did that happen?

Most likely, you probably already completed one of your group registrations. Your browser stored the roommate information from your previous registration and autofilled the roommate information to speed up how you complete forms. You can control your system’s autofill feature in your browser’s setting. If the information is incorrect, simply delete the autofill information and continue.

In the registration system, you asked me to select a second option for housing. When will the system charge me if a single dorm room or the Village Apartments is my second choice for housing?

After we complete housing assignments, you will be invoiced for any additional housing fees.

I selected the Village Apartments as my housing option. I am attending with one other person. Will other people be assigned to the same Village Apartment unit?

Perhaps. The Village Apartments contain three, four, or five bedrooms with two shared bathrooms. All bedrooms in your unit may be filled with other pilgrims to fully fill every unit.

Are there hotels close to OIT?

America’s Best Value Inn & Suites: 3939 US-97, Klamath Falls, OR 97601. Phone: (541) 882-8844. Both the Super 8 and America’s Best are about a mile away.

There is no guarantee that these hotels will have vacancies during the Pilgrimage. Transportation to and from the hotels is your responsibility.

NOTE: Hotel charges are IN ADDITION to the Pilgrimage registration fee and are your responsibility. You are also responsible for your own transportation to and from OIT. There is no refund or reduced Pilgrimage registration rate for those who opt to stay elsewhere than at OIT. If you choose this option, indicate this when you register.

Can I select a single dorm room or a Village Apartment for housing if I requested a grant?

No. If you apply for a grant, you are ineligible to register for a single dorm room or a Village Apartment. You will be assigned to a double dorm room.
